2. Wash Hands & Gather Supplies: Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water. Gather your testosterone vial, 1 mL syringe, 18G needle (for drawing up), 25G 1-inch needle (for injection), alcohol pads, and sharps container.
3. Prepare the Vial: Inspect the medication for discoloration or particles. Clean the rubber stopper with an alcohol pad and allow it to dry completely.
4. Draw Up Medication: Attach the 18G needle to the syringe. Insert the needle into the vial, invert the vial, and draw up the exact prescribed amount. Remove air bubbles by gently tapping the syringe and pushing out excess air. Remove the 18G needle and replace it with the 25G injection needle.
5. Choose Injection Site: Use an intramuscular site such as the upper outer glute (buttock), deltoid (upper arm), or vastus lateralis (side of thigh). Rotate sites weekly to prevent irritation or scar tissue. Clean the skin with alcohol and allow it to dry completely.
6. Inject Medication: Hold the syringe like a dart and insert the needle at a 90-degree angle into the muscle. Inject slowly and steadily. Remove the needle smoothly once complete. Apply gentle pressure with gauze if needed. Do not massage aggressively.
7. Dispose Safely: Place the syringe and needle immediately into a sharps container. Never reuse needles or syringes.
8. After Injection: Mild soreness or slight redness at the injection site may occur and is typically temporary. Contact your provider if you experience severe pain, swelling, warmth, fever, chest pain, shortness of breath, leg swelling, or any unusual symptoms.

What Is Testosterone?
Testosterone is a naturally occurring male hormone responsible for energy levels, muscle mass, strength, libido, mood, motivation, red blood cell production, and overall well-being. Injectable testosterone has been prescribed as part of your hormone replacement therapy to restore levels when they are clinically low or suboptimal.

How It Works:
Injectable testosterone (typically testosterone cypionate or enanthate) enters the bloodstream and binds to androgen receptors throughout the body. This supports muscle development, bone density, sexual function, metabolic health, and cognitive performance.
Because this therapy supplements your natural production, your body’s own testosterone production may decrease while on treatment. Benefits develop gradually with consistent use and proper monitoring.

Expected Benefits:
Patients may experience improved energy, increased libido, improved erectile function, enhanced mood and motivation, better recovery, increased lean muscle mass, reduced body fat, and improved mental clarity.
Results vary by individual and are dependent on consistent dosing, lifestyle factors, and appropriate follow-up.

When to Use:
Inject testosterone exactly as prescribed. Dosing schedules are individualized based on laboratory values, symptoms, and treatment goals.
Do not increase, decrease, or change injection frequency without provider approval.

Possible Side Effects:
Common side effects may include:
• Mild acne or oily skin
• Increased body or facial hair
• Injection site soreness
• Increased sweating

Less common but possible side effects include:
• Mood changes or irritability
• Fluid retention
• Breast tenderness or gynecomastia
• Elevated red blood cell count (polycythemia)
• Increased estradiol
• Elevated cholesterol
• Testicular shrinkage
• Decreased sperm production or infertility

Rare but serious risks include:
• Blood clots
• Stroke
• Heart attack
• Significant elevation in PSA
• Worsening sleep apnea
Side effects are often dose-dependent and may improve with adjustment or additional monitoring.

Contact Your Provider If You Experience:
• Severe mood changes
• Breast enlargement or tenderness
• Persistent swelling
• Headaches with vision changes
• Shortness of breath
• Chest pain
• Leg swelling
• Signs of infection at injection site
• Any symptom that feels unusual or concerning
Seek immediate emergency care for shortness of breath, chest pain, stroke symptoms, or signs of a severe allergic reaction.

Who Should Not Use:
Men’s Health Suite will not prescribe testosterone injections to patients with:
• Active or suspected prostate cancer
• Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia
• Prostitis
• Male breast cancer
• Hematocrit above safe treatment range
• Active blood clots
• Recent heart attack or stroke
• Severe uncontrolled cardiovascular disease
• Known hypersensitivity to testosterone or its components

You must notify your provider immediately if you develop any new medical conditions while on therapy.

Fertility Warning:
Testosterone injections can significantly reduce sperm production and may cause temporary or long-term infertility. If you are actively trying to conceive or wish to preserve fertility, inform your provider prior to treatment initiation.

Treatment Expectations:
Testosterone therapy is not an instant treatment. Symptom improvement develops over several weeks to months. Regular laboratory monitoring is required to ensure safety and appropriate dosing.
Results vary and are not guaranteed.

Patient Responsibility:
• Use medication exactly as prescribed
• Do not share medication
• Do not alter dosing without approval
• Complete required lab work
• Attend scheduled follow-up visits
• Store medication properly
• Dispose of needles in a sharps container
Failure to comply with monitoring requirements may result in discontinuation of therapy.
